Search Engine Optimisation
The question most often asked of website designers is "Can you get us to the top of Google?" The short answer is "Probably not, unless you're willing to spend an awful lot of money." Large companies are now spending much more per month on search engine optimisation (SEO) than the development of their website. There are a number of ways Google (and Yahoo and Microsoft) index websites and we'll make sure that a lot of errors usually found in websites are avoided. We will also add your site to the major search engines so that they are indexed more quickly.
If you are willing to spend money getting your website higher in the page rankings then we can certainly help with that as well.
Testing Your Site
Whilst designing your site, we'll make sure that it conforms to W3C standards and that it works across all major browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera).
Interactive Sites
Whilst static websites can effectively tell your audience what you want them to know, a fully-animated interactive site can have the "wow" factor when done in the right way.
Adobe's "Flash" is the tool being used to take the Internet forward (although Microsoft have recently joined with their "Silverlight" system) and some of the results are very impressive. However, this type of site does come with drawbacks.
Chief amongst these is cost, due to the nature of these sites they take longer to develop and so cost more. You'll also need a static version of the site for visitors who don't have the required software installed or need a more accessible site. Also, interactive sites cannot be updated quickly and easily like a static site can, changes need to be made within the animation and the new version uploaded, it can't be done online.
If you want your website to stand out but don't want a full flash-based site, we can always develop an animated logo or advert so that your page doesn't look static.
The best design for your website.
The best look for your business.
Trembirth Design has a simple design philosophy - every website is different. We don't try and sell you pre-designed templates or rebrand a website we've developed for someone else, we listen to how you want your website to look and base our ideas on that.
Web Design Process
Every project starts with an initial meeting where we discuss how you want your website to look, what you want it to do and any other requirements you have. The design can be based upon your current marketing strategy or based on a design you've seen elsewhere (note: "based on", not "copied"). Corporate colours and images will be used and images are sourced where required from image stocks available around the Internet or from your own collection.
The first meeting will also allow us to give you an initial quote for the work you want doing (see "Pricing" below) and the amount of time the work will take to complete.
Within a few days you'll be presented with a number of designs (usually 4-5) based on the discussions we've had. From these designs you can choose the elements you like, those you don't like and the direction you want the final design to head in. You'll have access to the site during the entire design process and the site won't be made live until you are happy with it.
Updating Your Site
Once the site is live, changes can be made as required either by contacting us or by using a content management system.
If you would like us to update your site, we can either quote on a per-item basis whenever work needs to be done or, for a monthly fee, we can make changes whenever required.
Adding a content management system to your site means you can change your site's text and images whenever you like using a password protected admin area installed within the website. This software requires little computing knowledge and you'll be given full training on how the system works and what can be done. A lot of our clients now use this type of system and find it helpful and convenient to be able to update their sites when they can.
Although there is a charge to add this feature at design time, there is no charge for you to make changes to the site and as the management area is part of your website and is therefore on the Internet, you can make changes whenever and wherever you can get Internet access be it at home, at work or away from the office.
Other Services
As well as designing your site, we can host it using our preferred hosting company (see pricing below) hosting also allows us to offer e-mail services. We can also design e-mail stationery based on your site design.
If you already have a domain name registered with another company or already have a website, we can either upload your new site to the current hosts or move your domain name over to our hosting service.
We can also take over existing projects coded in asp or asp.net (vbScript, Javascript, C#). Contact Us for more information.
Pricing
The price of developing a site depends on its content. A static site containing a few pages can be designed for around £300 - £400. Adding content management (so you can update the site yourself) costs around £50 per page although this depends on how complicated a site design you require.
An interactive site - one developed using Flash or similar software (see the panel on the right) - can cost a lot more as it takes longer to develop and you need a static site to run alongside the interactive site for search engines and those whose browsers cannot access the interactive elements.
After an initial consultation about what you want your site to do and how you want it to look, we'll give you a quote on what the site will cost and, should you wish to make any major changes during development, we'll let you know how they affect the price.
